CDS Energy Services, an experienced and highly-regarded oil, gas, petro-chemical and nuclear business has completed a complex fabrication project as part of a £25 million investment at Lynemouth Power Station at the Port of Tyne in South Shields.
The work was carried out to support a new automated biomass rail-loading facility, which will handle up to 1.8m tonnes of wood pellets annually to meet the requirements of Lynemouth Power Station.
The system will transport the wood pellets to three purpose-built silos, and then on to Lynemouth Power station via two separate conveying streams.
CDS Energy Services’ fabrication team performed the design, detailing and full fabrication of steelwork gantries and trestles which were used as part of the installation. The steel installations will be built upon by another contractor, Spencer Group, which is responsible for the construction of this standalone facility at the port.

Lynemouth Power Station was acquired by leading European energy group Energetickỳ (EPH) in January 2016. EPH has since confirmed that plans to convert the power station to biomass were proceeding according to schedule.
